Discussion of the past and current state of Alaska/Fairbanks tourist industry, what is being done to increase it, how foreign especially Asian tourism is being courted, the scope of marketing, public relations and advertising efforts, the problems of winter tourism and efforts to build it with the luge, Olympics, etc., the economics, Alaskan jobs, 10,000-22,000 additional jobs are generated, owned by outsiders often, but lots of local hire. Interviewees include Janet Halverson, director of the Fairbanks Convention and Visitors Bureau, Ralph Nester, professor of tourism, UAF School of Business Management, John Steinbach, manager of a chain of Alaskan hotels and Dick Holden, owner of various tourist businesses.
